Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice launch pressing service

The team Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice have launched their annual pressing service.

Running throughout the whole of Autumn, the press, which is based on their farm just outside Malton, gives people with a surplus of apples and pears from their own gardens and orchards the opportunity to have them traditionally pressed when their crop is ready.

Owner Jane Birch said: “Lots of people and a growing number of businesses, including holiday cottages, B&Bs and farm shops, use our service as we guarantee that the unique juice our customers receive back is only from their own pressed fruit.

“It’s perfect for gifts or to share with friends and family and many customers also love the fact that the juice is cold pressed, using traditional methods.”

Each batch of fruit dropped off is pressed and bottled separately, then gently pasteurised so it’s ready to be enjoyed immediately and lasts around 18 months. “Raw” juice is also available on request for those looking to make cider at home.

Jane continues: “It’s a great way to use up with those bumper fruit harvests, when the freezer is full, the fruit pies are made and the neighbours have had their share! The rest can be turned into delicious, unique juice that can be enjoyed all year round.”

The reopening of the Press comes after a busy summer for the husband-and-wife team who received a coveted Gold Star in this year’s Great Taste Awards for their Braeburn Juice as well as being shortlisted in the Best Artisan Producer category at The Yorkshire Post Rural Awards.
