Source Climate Change Coffee launch new coffee

Harrogate based Source Climate Change Coffee have launched their newest coffee to add to their already award-winning range.

Rio Coco Cloud Forest is Source’s 5th single origin speciality coffee and named after one of the most important rivers crossing the municipality of San Juan del Rio Coco, where the coffee farms are based.

Dealing exclusively with farmers who use organic and sustainable land management practices, the teams grow the coffee alongside a mix of native trees species, to support a biodiverse environment that is home to over 100 native tree species, tropical birds and mammals. The conservation project aims to restore degraded areas of forest with participating farmers growing shade grown coffee, and incorporating living fences, woodlots and silvopastoral systems into their farms.

Source Climate Change Coffee’s founder Christine Talens said: “Earlier this year, we set out in search of a new organic single origin from a reforestation and conservation project.  Our 5th single origin coffee is from a Plan Vivo reforestation project in Nicaragua and has a balanced sweet acidity, chocolate-caramel aroma and creamy texture.

“We visited this producer group over 10 years ago and loved what they did then. Their commitment to coffee quality and environmental stewardship is just as good now as it was then.

For every bag of coffee sold, local farmers plant trees to support the forest and their families and all Source coffees are offset using reforestation carbon credits and are 100% traceable to the forest community conservation project.

Since being founded in 2013 Source has gone from strength to strength picking up an array of prestigious industry awards including a number of Great Taste stars, which are known as the Oscars of the food and drink industry.

Earlier this year the team also launched their new coffee subscription service, allowing customers to order their favourite coffee or a mixture of each to be delivered directly to their door each month.

Coffee can be delivered as beans, roast and ground or as Nespresso ® compatible capsules and monthly deliveries start at £6.25 with free postage.
