The Yorkshire Pasta Company announced as Great British Entrepreneur Awards finalist

Malton based Kathryn Bumby has been recognised as one of the best in the business after being named as a finalist in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Kathryn, who launched The Yorkshire Pasta Company in May 2020, creates premium British Pasta using traditional artisan techniques learnt in Italy, along with locally milled wheat flour to create superb tasting and perfectly textured premium dried pasta.

The sustainable business dries their pasta using solar power and packs their products in bespoke paper bags which are plastic free and fully recyclable. Now stocked in over 450 farm shops, delis and independents throughout the UK, their products can even now be found in both Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

Selected from over 5,300 entrants, owner Kathryn is one of the shortlisted business leaders in this year’s awards and joins Jon Walsh & Dr. Megan Rossi from Bio&Me, Steph Buttery from Chu Lo and Richard Clark from Drynks Unlimited amongst others, all vying for the top spot.

Kathryn said: “To be recognised for this award is overwhelming.  We are a small family business, a team of three, and we love creating our artisan pasta here in Malton.

“To know that families up and down the UK are sitting round dinner tables enjoying our pasta together gives me such a special feeling. The last two years really have been a whirlwind for us and our pasta.  This is another very proud moment for us!”

Run in partnership with Starling Bank, The Great British Entrepreneur Awards champion the hard work and uplifting stories of business owners across the UK, with an emphasis on their journey and resilience over financial achievements.  A total of twelve awards are given out per region with categories including Disruptor of the Year, Entrepreneur for Good Award, and the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year.

Now in their 10th year, the Awards alumni have collectively generated over £30 billion in revenue and employed more than 450,000 people.  To mark the milestone year for the programme, entrants will have the chance to win over £30,000 worth of marketing support and a tree will be planted for every application submitted with the support of Ecologi.

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James said: “The quality of this year’s entrants exemplified the strength of entrepreneurship across the UK and we have been especially blown away by the innovation, drive and determination demonstrated throughout. Shortlisting from so many inspiring contenders has been more challenging than ever, with many deserving cases put forward and an ever-growing business community thriving across the country.”

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a Grand Final, held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on 21st November.  For more information about The Yorkshire Pasta Company and to buy their products online visit www.yorkshirepasta.co.uk
