Village Doorstep Launches

An enterprising new family business is aiming to connect local food and drink businesses directly with their customers.

Village Doorstep is an online marketplace created to link Yorkshire businesses to local people, safely delivering the very best of regional produce and products to their doorsteps.

Created by the Greenwood family from Aldwark near York, the new ‘virtual high street’ came about after they struggled to get hold of certain products during lockdown.

Bringing together independent, often owner managed businesses allows customers to browse an online marketplace of local goods, which currently includes products from some 30 businesses and features food, drink, homewares and plants amongst others.

As well as providing a one stop online shop of local products, the new businesses aim is also to champion smaller independent and artisan businesses along the way.

Founder Tina Greenwood said: “The solution to our problem during lockdown was to create an online high street of our own which allowed customers to browse an array of fantastic local products and shops safely from the comfort of their homes.

“Our aim is to bring together local and selected regional shops on a single, easy to use, online platform and by doing so, we help uncover and showcase some great products, support independent business and provide a great service for the community too.

“By using Village Doorstep our customers are getting fantastic products and service whilst supporting independent businesses. During this current difficult period our aim is to support everyone in the community, both customers and business so for this period of time we’re a not for profit business and won’t be charging shopkeepers or customers to be involved.”

For the remainder of the year it’s free for businesses to sign up to the site by completing the enquiry for online. To find out more and to shop their range of products www.villagedoorstep.com
