Yockenthwaite Farm stocked at selected Booths stores

An award-winning cereals business which started out in the kitchen of a remote farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales is now celebrating being stocked in selected Booths stores.

Yockenthwaite Farm, based in Skipton will now have their Nutty Spelt and Just Ginger granola blends stocked in 24 Booths stores across the region, including Ripon, Settle and Ilkley.

Founder and owner Liz Hird said: “We’ve farmed in the hamlet of Yockenthwaite in beautiful Langstrothdale for five generations, ever since the Widow Hird – as she was known – first arrived here in 1842 with her 10 children! We started serving our granola in the farmhouse kitchen more than ten years ago and it’s a diversification which continues to support our work up at the farm to this day.

“British food producers and British farming is at the heart of what Booths does so supplying them with our freshly-baked granola feels like a great fit.”

The award-winning business teamed up with fellow Yorkshire Dales farm diversification Hesper UK earlier this year to create an on-the-go granola and skyr breakfast pot which is now also available in Booths stores.

Liz continues: “Working together with another Yorkshire farming family who we’ve known for decades is a real pleasure. Our respective diversifications into granola and skyr, a high protein yoghurt, are both very different but compliment each other well and we’re proud to fly the flag for both British and Yorkshire farming.”

September will also see Yockenthwaite Farm make the move to larger premises in in order to accommodate the increasing demand for their granola, muesli and freshly-rolled porridge oats which are slow-baked in small batches by hand from scratch and made fresh to order.

“We’re grateful that people have enjoyed our range and that the business has been able to grow. The heart of it will always be in Yockenthwaite but this is an exciting move for us and we’re looking forward to firing up our brand new ovens and getting going baking our delicious wholegrain cereals.”
