Yorkshire coast brewery invited to showcase beer at ministerial reception

As UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) revealed new figures showing a record number of UK businesses interested in exporting through government-brokered opportunities, beer from a Yorkshire brewery was one of the highlights of an evening reception that launched Exporting is GREAT Week last week.

Wold Top at Exporting is GREAT ReceptionGill Mellor from Wold Top Brewery was invited by UKTI, the government department leading Exporting is GREAT, to participate in a reception for 120 guests hosted by Lord Mark Price, Minister of State for Trade and Investment at Lancaster House in London.

Farm based Wold Top Brewery brew traditional real ale from home grown malting barley and currently export to several countries including Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Falkland Islands, Ireland and Canada.

The reception was one of 90 events held nationwide throughout Exporting is GREAT Week that are aimed at supporting more companies to export or increase their overseas business and Gill Mellor was proud to be involved: “Thanks to the help that we have had from UKTI, exports now account for 15% of our business. We were delighted to be invited to provide beer for the reception and to have the opportunity to talk to key representatives from Exporting is GREAT campaign partners about our export experiences.”

Exporting is GREAT aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020. Launched in November 2015, Exporting is GREAT partners with major UK businesses, to support companies at every stage of their exporting journey – from identifying opportunities to winning contracts overseas. There will be another Exporting is GREAT week in November.
